Grant Skinner is a safety professional with very diverse experience in Health and Safety Management Systems within the maritime and oil and gas industry locally and internationally. His passion for occupational health and safety began while working with a global leader in Offshore Drilling and Completions as well as instructing offshore safety and survival at the Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Grant continued his studies of Occupational Health and Safety Management at Ryerson University while obtaining his CRSP designation. Grant diversified his health and safety management system experience both offshore and onshore to include FPSO construction, offshore hook-up, commissioning and production operations.
As founder of Coastal Safety Systems, Grant works with clients locally and internationally with a focus on all aspects of industrial safety and development of safety management systems as well as all other aspects of Occupational Health and Safety. In 2018 Coastal Safety Systems expanded services beyond Oil & Gas to include utilities, transportation, etc. which included a contract with Amazon Corporation to support improvements to their safety management system.
In 2017, Grant founded Validity Systems, a local Technology company who build IoT solutions. Validity Systems recently partnered with a global leader in augmented and virtual reality space to bring leading edge AVR software and virtual training solutions to industry to improve workplace safety and training through immersive training and competence.
Grant is a member of the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals Regional Screening Committee with a goal of helping to better prepare our health and safety professionals for the challenges that await them in this ever-changing Market.
