Kelly Carew

Mental Health Advocate

As a single parent, living and working in small town Newfoundland, Kelly never felt at peace with settling for “the way things were”. In 2007, after receiving a diagnosis, she began working on understanding her illness and began her recovery journey.

In 2015, this lead her to sign up for Mental Health First Aid Training course, solely to continue finding ways to help myself. Little did she know that she would end up using the tools she found to help a close friend.

Since then, she has realize that sharing her lived experience may help others. She uses the skills she has learned, along with her own lived experience to help others. Whether it is speaking to groups or helping someone individually, has proven to not only be therapeutic for herself but also a way of raising awareness of mental illness and hopefully educating others.
